A man has built a 'dream house' for his dog that reportedly cost a staggering $20,000 (around £16,000).

Definitely a step up from your bog-standard dog basket - the state-of-the-art pup pad comes fitted with its own mini fridge, a bedroom and a TV that plays squirrel clips on loop.

Considering the dog-dad forked out a small fortune for the pooch, it's clear he's really taken the phrase 'man's best friend' to a whole new level.

The YouTuber spent $20k on a dog house.

The man in question is YouTuber, Brent Rivera, from California, who took to the platform to share with his 26.5 million subscribers his latest home improvement.

The 25-year-old content creator captioned the video, which has since clocked up nearly seven million views: "I BUILT A $25,000 DREAM DOG HOUSE!!"

Brent also explained he decided to splash out on the luxury living get-up as a present for his dog Charly's first birthday.

The video shows the process of building and decorating the new home for Charly, who he describes as his 'best friend for the past year' following the sad passing of his previous pooch, Becker.

The dog house included a mini fridge and bed.

He told his subscribers: "It was extremely hard for me because I felt like I would never have a dog like that ever again.

"That was until Charly came into my life. She'll never be Becker but she is amazing in her own way. So I wanted to do something special for her for her first birthday."

Brent continued: "I thought it was time she deserved an upgrade," before he and his friend headed to the shops to pick up the supplies they needed to get cracking with the home renovation project.

Later on in the video, the YouTuber revealed the hefty price tag attached to the 'luxury' dog house - a mammoth $20k.

After a quick DIY montage, Brent gave his viewers a tour of the finished product.

Brent added the TV that 'only plays squirrel videos'.

The mezzanine-style abode was fitted with a cosy bed, bean bags, a sofa, a miniscule coffee table, photos of Charly and himself, a mini-fridge and a TV that 'only plays squirrel videos'.

To add the final homely touch, Brent added a sign outside the dog house which read in gold lettering: "Charly's House."

"People are going to be like, 'You spoiled her,'" Brent says before adding: "No, I'm just appreciative."

His friend then quips: "This is spoiling for sure."

After everything was all put in place, it was finally time for the resident to check out the space.

Charly can then be seen pottering into the house before perching on the freshly-made bed seemingly enjoying her new luxury space.

Well, considering it cost an arm and a leg - you'd sure hope she would.
