Fans were delighted to see rapper 50 Cent recreate one of his most popular music videos during an unannounced appearance at the epic half-time show at Super Bowl LVI.

Those in attendance at SoFi Stadium in Southern California – as well as the millions tuning in around the globe – must have been shocked to see 50 Cent joining the all-star cast on the pitch at half-time during the NFL’s showpiece event, featuring the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals.

50 Cent – which is 37p to those of us in the UK – showed up hanging upside down from a piece of the stage, in homage to his performance in the music video for ‘In Da Club’, which he then proceeded to perform.

Fans were delighted, although some expressed concerns about a man of his age – he’s only 46, guys! – hanging upside down.

One said: “The first words out of my mouth when I saw 50 Cent hanging upside down were:

“’I’ll pay you $1,000 if he can do the crunch back up’”

Another said: “50 cent upside down at his ages [sic] killed me.”

He was joined on stage for the short medley performance by Dr Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige.

Yes, that’s an absolutely stacked cast, and it has fans already claiming that it is the finest ever Super Bowl half-time show.

That’s a bold claim, especially for anyone who remembers the late Prince’s legendary performance a few years back.

Still, many people have been convinced.

Fiddy recreated the hanging move.

One said: “No words. Snoop. Dre. Eminem. Mary J. 50 Cent. Kendrick. Best #HalfTimeShow!

“Looks like I’ll be continuing this show with a best of 90s hip hop playlist. #SuperBowlLVI”

Another said: “The Halftime show was amazing! Loved that they brought 50 cent too”

A third simply said: “Best. Halftime. Show. Ever.”

Well, whatever you make of it in the pantheon of Super Bowl showpiece shows, it was certainly a success, and the NFL will be pleased that it seems to have passed off without much of the controversy that has affected other shows – remember Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson?

That’s no small achievement given the cast they brought in, too.

It was an all-star cast.

When the line-up was announced ahead of the NFL’s showpiece event, watched by billions around the globe, Dr Dre released a statement that said: When the line-up was announced, Dre said: "The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,

"I'm grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment."
