Netflix has just released its fourth and final season of On My Block and, of course, no show leaves quietly.

If you're late to the party, On My Block is a teen rom-com/drama series which follows four smart, funny and streetwise teens growing up in the fictional inner city neighbourhood of Freeridge in LA. The neighbourhood is inundated with gangs and violence and as they begin highschool, the four teens find their friendships being tested and their destiny's heading in very different directions.

The Netflix original TV series made its debut in 2018 and stars Sierra Capri as Monse Finnie, Jason Genao as Ruby Martinez, Brett Gray as Jamal turner, and Diego Tinoco as Cesar Diaz. There's also Jessica Marie Garcia, who plays their pal Jasmine and Julio Macias as Oscar 'Spooky' Diaz, Cesar's older brother.

Warning: Season four spoilers ahead. After this sentence, you only have yourself to blame.

Season four picks up two years on from the events of season three, and with it being the final series, Netflix undoubtedly had lots of loose ends to tie up for the main characters.

Who dies in On My Block season four?

In this explosive final series, two of the main characters are killed. The first death takes place in episode five and the second in the season finale.

Cesar's older brother Oscar - aka 'Spooky' - is shot dead in season four, episode five. It's not clear exactly who killed him, but Ray, a friend of the brothers, tells Cesar that Oscar was "in the life," meaning he had made some enemies from his affiliation with the gangs and any number of people could have wanted him dead.

Cesar, having also gotten himself in very deep with the gangs, had finally realised he needed his brother's help to get out and minutes before his death, he'd patched things up with him and agreed to move with him and his wife Isabel to Portland to make a fresh start. Sadly, it was just too late.

The second death takes place in the season four finale. Abuelita passes away peacefully after we learned earlier on in the series that she was sick. It was later revealed that she had cancer.

It was a heart-wrenching moment for fans and the four friends, who gave her the farewell party she wanted. Abuelita was particularly close to Jamal; the two shared a lot of banter.

Abuelita, whose real name is Marisol Martinez, is played by American actress Peggy Blow. Born in June 1952, Peggy Blow is 69-years-old in 2021 and her role in On My Block is what she's best known for.

This is the first time the show has killed off a main character since season one, when viewers said goodbye to Olivia, who was shot dead by Latrelle in the season one finale.

On My Block seasons one to four are available to stream on Netflix now and a spin-off series has now been confirmed by the streaming platform.
