Angry fans accuse Rihanna of lip syncing her way through epic Super Bowl show

Rihanna has left fans floored with her epic Super Bowl Half Time show, but not all were thrilled in the wake of her epic performance with some accusing the Barbadian songstress of lip syncing.

In what was her first live gig in over five years, the 34-year-old singer descended from the rafters, dressed in a striking red outfit and flanked by a group of dancers.

She then treated the thousands in the stadium and millions watching back at home to a medley of her hits, including 'We Found Love', 'Diamonds', 'Rude Boy', 'Umbrella', and 'Work', to name just a few.

But fans on social media have accused the pop Queen of lip-syncing her way through the show.

Others went on to label it as the 'worst ever' Super Bowl performance in the history of the game.

One person commented: "Amazing how Rihanna is able to keep singing even when she puts the mic aside and doesn’t move her lips at all."

A second added: "You know I love you, but that’s the worst lips sync ever. OMG."

A third chipped in with: "Lip-syncing at the Super Bowl should not be allowed."

While another observed: "Rihanna not even having the mic near her mouth while the lyrics are playing. Why bother doing the halftime show if you’re not even gonna try and lip sync, bizarre."

One fan shared a clip of the Barbadian self-made millionaire singing Kanye West’s 'All of the Lights', with her lips moving out of time with the music.

But, as per NFL policy, stars pre-record their sets before the big show in order to give them a fall back option in case they need to focus their breath for complex choreography, moving sets, and (sometimes) surprise cameos, Fox40 reports.

So it isn't the cardinal sin it is being made out to be.

Despite her naysayers, there were plenty of fans singing Rihanna's praises.

One viewer said: "Now THAT was a halftime show!! DAMN.

"Everyone involved in the direction, choreography, staging, dancing, and construction deserves so much credit for that #SuperBowl HT show."

Speaking about her decision to perform at the Super Bowl, despite having boycotted it for several years, Rihanna previously said that it was about time.

She said: "I felt like it was now or never for me. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, it's an entertainer's dream to be on a stage like that."

But while she tore the roof off Arizona's State Farm Stadium, Rihanna won't receive a penny for her performance, as is customary.

This is down to the fact that they're getting to play in front of the largest audience they'll most likely ever have, which will no doubt have a big impact on their record sales.
