Atlanta Season 4: Release Date, Cast And Plot Rumours

Atlanta Season 4: Release Date, Cast And Plot Rumours

Donald Glovers' show Atlanta has been received very well by audiences so when can we expect the hotly anticipated season 4?

Atlanta is a comedy-drama that premiered in 2016 and was brought to our screens by director, Donald Glover. One of Glover’s first jobs in the industry was working with Tina Fey for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. Since then he has played a range of acting roles from Troy Barnes in Community and latterly, his starring role in Atlanta.

Glover has received numerous accolades for his work on film and TV. Most notably including two Primetime Emmy Awards and two prestigious Golden Globe Awards. He is a rising star and evidently one to watch.

Atlanta revolves around high-school dropout turned musician, Earnest Marks and rapper, Paper Boi who are together forced to navigate the Atlanta rap scene. They encounter racism, whiteness and existentialism amongst other themes in the series.

When is season 4 being released?

Luckily for fans, who had to wait three long years for season 3 will not have to wait until 2023 according to chairman John Landgraf, Atlanta’s hotly anticipated season 4 is set to be released late 2022. Exact dates are yet to be confirmed.

Who is being cast?

Cast details have not been announced yet. But if season 3 is anything to go by, we can expect Donald Glover to reprise his role as Earnest Marks and Brian Tyree Henry to play Paper Boi.

Other big names include LaKeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Myra Lucretia Taylor.

What are the critics saying?

Rotten Tomatoes has given season 3 an audience score of 69% whilst the Tomatometer has given it a score of 97%. The Guardian have described Atlanta as “some of the most sophisticated storytelling in recent years” and as a “genre-defying venture to trace the intricacies of its particularly compelling characters and inevitably Black life”.

So, if season 3 is anything to go by, we can expect more of the same poignant and astute messages that have previously characterised Atlanta’s screening.
