Top Five Best Adam Sandler Movies

Given the success of Sandler's recent film 'Hustle', let's take a look at the top five best Adam Sandler films of all time.

Actor, filmmaker, comedian, singer/songwriter…there isn’t a lot Adam Sandler hasn’t turned his hand to. With over 100 award nominations and starring in some of the biggest comedy films of all time, Sandler may be one of the best known male actors on the planet.

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966, Sandler has starred in at least 62 movies…that’s a lot of script learning! His most recent work, Hustle, was released on Netflix this month receiving very impressive reviews and it got us thinking: what are the top five best Adam Sandler movies of all time?

5. Hubie Halloween

Year: 2020

Director: Steven Brill

At number 5 we have Hubie Halloween. The film follows a Halloween-obsessed Hubie Dubois, played by Sandler, who must save a small town called Salem in Massachusetts from a kidnapper.

It pays tribute to the late actor Cameron Boyce, who was set to co-star in the movie, but sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 20.

4. Anger Management

Year: 2003

Director: Peter Segal

In this film, Sandler stars as Dave Buznik, a man who is issued anger management classes after getting caught up in an incident abroad, to avoid getting sent to jail. However, these are no ordinary therapy sessions. Buznik’s therapist is a totally chaotic man who ends up moving in with him in order to help him overcome his issues.

Anger Management won the Teen Choice Award for ‘Choice Hissy Fit’ in 2003.

3. Punch-Drunk Love

Year: 2002

Director: Paul Thomas Anderson

A frustrated Barry Egan, famously played by Sandler, is constantly criticised by his seven sisters and suffers from living a lonely and uneventful life. This is until he falls in love with one of his sister's co-workers, Lena Leonard, which he puts in jeopardy by falling victim to an extortionist.

2. The Wedding Singer

Year: 1998

Director: Frank Coraci

Set in 1985, in this film Adam Sandler stars as Robbie Hart, a broken-hearted man stuck in possibly one the most romantic jobs in the world; a wedding singer. He meets a young woman called Julia (Drew Barrymore) who asks him kindly to help plan her wedding. However, the two fall in love and the mission is to win Julia over before she gets married.

1. Uncut Gems

Year: 2019

Directors: Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie

Having covered just five of his 62 credits, arguably the best Adam Sandler film is Uncut Gems. Sandler plays Howard Ratner, a jeweller who places a high-stakes bet that could result in serious repercussions. He must balance his business life, family and adversities in pursuit of the ultimate win.
