Britain's Got Talent child star Connie Talbot says she barely remembers anything from her time on show

Britain's Got Talent child star Connie Talbot says she barely remembers anything from her time on show

She became an overnight celebrity after appearing on the BGT stage

Remember Connie Talbot winning the hearts of the nation and bringing Amanda Holden to tears as she took to the Britain's Got Talent stage back in 2007? Well apparently she doesn't remember it much at all.

See their revealing stroll down memory lane here:

The then-six-year-old singer with missing front teeth was runner-up as she had viewers in the palm of her hands thanks to her cute image and angelic voice in the first series of the iconic Saturday-night ITV show, losing out only to winner Paul Potts,

Now 22 (feel old yet?) she appeared on ITV's This Morning to chat about her overnight musical success as a child alongside Natalie Okri and Bars & Melody now they're all grown up.

"You were so young though, six years old with no front teeth," says host Alison Hammond, turning to Connie.

"No - they came in finally," quips Connie.

"But the thing is you actually made Amanda cry. I can remember she had tears in her eyes," Alison recalls.

"What do you remember from that time? Can you even remember it?" asks Alison.

"You know what it feels like that was like the beginning of my life," Connie admits wistfully.

"I don't really remember anything before that but I remember bits of the show."

So was it a desire to perform in front of the late Queen that drove her to audition? No.

Connie admits she remembers very little of her time on the BGT stage.

"I really just wanted to be on The X Factor and obviously I was too young," she admits.

"I was like: yes this is the next thing and it was the first season so like no expectations for the show whatsoever.

"It just started as a fun day out and I mean it's given me a career today, which is incredible. It's really lucky."

Alison reminds her: "You got through to the final!"

Then Dermot interjects: "Were you aware of what was going on or were you shielded from it?

"Between your parents and the production team did they just look after you enough that when you kept going through the rounds you could just kind of go out there and have fun?"

"Yeah, yeah - that was always the motto is: just go out there and have fun and I just wanted to be Leona Lewis! So in my head I was Leona Lewis on the stage singing 'Over the Rainbow'," she jokes.

Alison then speaks about seeing Connie's mum's experience of having a child going through the tense audition process.

"I can remember your mum actually on the side with Ant and Dec and I can remember she was just really worried about them saying something awful and then the relief on her face when they actually did say that they thought you were wonderful," she remembers.

"

Connie was joined on the couch by fellow reality child stars including Natalie Okri and Bars & Melody.

No they were worried about that," recalls Connie of her time on the BGT stage. "Because it was it was like the nasty Simon Cowell. He's softened up now."

Dermot adds: "And when you know him as well you know that's just a myth."

"He's a big softie," Connie agrees.

"I can remember Simon actually thanked you for being on the show as well because he really believed that they wouldn't be there if it wasn't for you," says Alison.

"It was brand new it was a real pilot but it was amazing," Connie enthuses.

Then trio then go on to talk about Connie's future in the music industry.

"I've got an EP, the first single's coming out at the end of April called Growing Pains.

"I'm a completely independent artist and just very lucky to still have the following that I have and I'm just very grateful for all these opportunities," she admits.
