Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter and is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most successful African artists of all time.
Burna Boy’s rise to fame came in 2012 after releasing his debut studio album, L.I.F.E, and it was the single ‘Like To Party’ that was most streamed and caught the ears of listeners around the world.
The popularity he gained from this album led to him signing with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally.
In 2017, Burna Boy made his first major debut with his new label by releasing the hit album Outside.
The success of the 13-track record led him to win ‘Best International Act’ at the 2019 BET awards and he was subsequently announced as an Apple Music ‘Up Next’ act.
His most acclaimed album came in that same year, 2019, and was entitled African Giant - a name that undoubtedly portrays what Burna Boy has gone on to become.
It won ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards and was nominated for ‘Best World Music Album’ at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Burna Boy is responsible for a career littered with success, so it is no surprise that his net worth sits at an impressive $20 million, according to the website Glusea.
Forbes Magazine claims this figure puts the rapper as the fourth richest Nigerian musician, behind only Wizkid, Davido and Don Jazzy.
Much of Burna Boy’s musical success is also down to his ability to drop great verses on songs he is featured in.
The best example would be the song ‘Location’ by Dave which reached the top 10 in the UK charts and went on to become certified as Triple Platinum.
