Al Pacino's girlfriend Meital Dohan has confirmed that the pair have split, saying that the age gap was 'difficult'.

The 40-year-old Israeli actress spoke to Israel's LaIsha magazine when rumours began to circulate that she was no longer with the 79-year-old Godfather star.

She explained: "It's hard to be with a man so old, even Al Pacino. The age gap is difficult, yes. I tried to deny it, but now he is already an elderly man, to be honest. So even with all my love, it didn't last."

When she was asked about gifts she received, she laughed and added: "He only bought me flowers. How can I say politely that he didn't like to spend money?"

She went on: "I had a fight with him and left him recently, but of course I really love and appreciate him, and I was glad to be there for him when he needed me, and to be a part of his legacy.

"It's an honour for me. I'm glad this relationship happened between us, and hope we remain good friends."

Al Pacino attended the Oscars alone earlier this month.

Reports of their separation came after Al Pacino attended the 92nd Annual Academy Awards alone on 9 February - where he would have watched Eminem's surprise performance.

It was an unexpected appearance from the rapper, to say the least, but the Oscar-winning tune 'Lose Yourself' still got a standing ovation from the audience.

Right after his performance, Eminem, 47, took to Instagram to share a video of the 2003 win and he captioned the post: "Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity...

"Thanks for having me @theacademy. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here."

Fair play to him.

Viewers were quick to pull out the reaction from members of the audience. In particular, Al Pacino's pal Martin Scorsese seemed to be having a lil ol' snooze.
