Elon Musk and his partner Grimes have welcomed a little baby boy, sharing a less-than-conventional photo on Twitter to mark the occasion.

Musk, 48, tweeted the news earlier today, saying simply: "Mom & baby all good."

The basic tweet prompted fans to press the entrepreneur to divulge more, with one asking if the child was a boy or a girl.

"Boy," he replied.

Another person then commented: "We really need to see picture of the baby!! Please do share."

Musk dutifully obliged - though not without adding a few, er, tattoos to the infant's face using a filter.

He also shared another, slightly more orthodox, photo, in which he holds his newborn son while clutching a facemask in the other hand.

Others were also left wondering if the baby has a name yet, with Musk responding to one by saying: "X Æ A-12 Musk."

While no one can really be sure if he's joking or not, it's worth remembering that stranger things have happened with Musk and his missus.

Just cast your minds back to their baby announcement, which involved a bizarre Photoshopped image of the foetus inside Grimes' womb.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, posted an uncensored picture showing the outline of a foetus Photoshopped onto her body, writing a comment underneath the now-deleted photo that appeared to confirm she was expecting.

Referring to the fact that she was topless, she wrote: "I thought about censoring them for a hot minute haha (this may get taken down anyway) but the photo is so much less feral without the nipples.

"Plus being knocked up is a very feral & war-like state of being.

"Might as well be what it is. Plus most of my friends told me not to post them so then I was afflicted w reverse psychology.

"Interrogated my shame on it and decided it was sum weird internalized self hatred to feel uncomfortable abt my body."

Due to Instagram's rules about showing female nipples, the photo was promptly deleted, before being replaced with another version without visible nipples.

Musk and Grimes have been together since 2018.

While this is Grimes' first child, Musk already has five children - a set of twins and a set of triplets - with his first wife Justine Wilson, who he divorced in 2008.

He has subsequently been married twice to British actor Talulah Riley, before they divorced for the second time in 2016.
