Mad Men actor January Jones has decided to share her personal phone number on social media, allowing fans to reach out if they need to during lockdown.

With many people across the globe forced to stay at home to stop the spread of coronavirus, a lot of socialising has turned virtual.

And the star has taken the opportunity to extend her network to the wider world, inviting people to text her.

Sharing the news - and her number - on Instagram, she said in the caption: "Text me! 310-561-1095. Just don't ask for money or nudes."

In an accompanying video, Jones said to fans: "Hi everyone, I'm trying to do something a little bit different.

"I've had a few friends suggest this to me. It's called Community - I got a phone number for my phone where you can text me and talk to me and it's a little bit more personal experience.

"Just for people who have questions, want to have a convo, have things they want to talk about - whether it's charity or fashion or daring me to dumb things in my back yard, whatever it is."

Explaining what's prompted her to reach out, Jones continued: "I know some things get lost in DMs or comments, I don't see them, or some people just don't DM or comment very much.

"So, if you want to try it out, I'm excited to try it out too.

"Both my number and this new number are on my phone, so I'm going to see it and hope I don't respond to, like, a text from my mom to you.

"But I'm going to try my best to get to all of you. I'm excited and a little nervous.

"The number's in my bio. Shoot me a text, and let's try it out. Let's see how this goes!"

Jones then shared some of the messages she'd already received from fans on Instagram Stories, posting a screenshot of a conversation with one person who had asked her what it was like to work with Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant.

Thanking the stranger for 'trying this out' with her, Jones replied: "Janie was so awesome, a genius really. I only wish I could have kept some of my costumes!! They were sold, archived or are in the Smithsonian."

Why not give it a go yourself, and see if she replies?
