Kit Harington has revealed that his real name isn't Kit Harington. Well, at least not the Kit bit anyway.

He wasn't clued up on his actual name until he reached the age of 11.

The Game of Thrones actor is actually called... *drum roll*... Christopher Harington.

Speaking to Glamour, the 34-year-old explained: "I think they could see that I wanted to be Kit, but Christopher was a bit of a tradition. My brother's name is Jack, but his real name is John. Kit is traditionally an offshoot of Christopher, it's just not used that often. My middle name is Catesby."

Christopher Catesby Harington, very snazzy.

He went on to add: "It's cool, isn't it? It's also my brother's middle name. Jake Catesby and Kit Catesby. It's my mom's maiden name, actually."

When asked whether he ever thought of going by Kit Catesby, he replied: "I nearly did, but I thought it sounded too much like a 1950s talk-show host. I was close, actually! Sometimes I think, That would have been a cool name, but Kit Harington works."

Harington and wife, Rose Leslie, also 34, welcomed their son earlier this year and he's since said becoming a father is like welcoming an unruly housemate.

Earlier this month, he told The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon: "No-one tells you that essentially, at first anyway, what it is, is you get a new roommate dumped into your life, who you've not interviewed, who doesn't know any of the rules, any of your house rules, breaks all your house rules.

"And then you fall in love with him, so you can't kick him out. That's basically parenting."

Cute and, we're sure some people will agree, very accurate.

He added: "I go in in the morning and he has this bright smile and he's chuckling already when I walk in the door. But then he just dismantles any plans I had for that day."

Harington joked wife Leslie was the parent his son 'seems to respect' while he was just 'sheer entertainment'.

He added: "I put him in his little chair and he likes dancing to the Beatles but he only likes it if I do these exaggerated moves. I've worked out where the dad dance comes from."

Also in the interview, Harington stayed tight-lipped on rumours Harry Styles would be starring alongside him in forthcoming Marvel movie The Eternals.

He evaded Fallon's questioning about Styles, joking: "No comment."
