Kristen Stewart has said she feels her sexuality has proven 'confusing' for people, saying it can be difficult to 'find the right words for it'.

Stewart - who came out as bisexual five years ago - has been in a relationship with screenwriter Dylan Meyer since 2019, having announced last November that they're engaged.

But while the Twilight star has spoken openly about their relationship, she's admitted it's not always been the easiest to discuss her personal life.

Speaking to the Mirror, Stewart said: "I think the hardest part has been finding the right words for it, because everyone's experience is different.

"As an actor, you just want to reveal yourself. And so, it's really counter-intuitive to be like, 'Wait, but not here.' In my private life? What is that? I'm an actor.

"I don't really want a private life. I don't want the details of my life to be disgustingly consumed and commodified. But at the same time I don't want to hide anything."

Stewart said some fans have been unable to understand her bisexuality, but added that she's not too bothered about it.

She said: "It was confusing for other people.

"I was fine. I was one way for a long time and I was not a different way once I started dating other people. Unless you say the words, because words matter, you're not fully out yet."

Stewart previously revealed how she and Meyer first met on a movie set six years ago, but later reconnected at a friend's birthday party.

Speaking on Howard Stern's radio show, Stewart said: "The day that I met her, all bets were off.

"I was like, 'Where have I been and how have I not known you?' She's been, like, living in LA alongside my life somehow but not ever converging?"

Revealing the speed at which their relationship has moved, Stewart went on to say: "It was like really late, and we were in some shitty bar, and her friends were there or whatever, and they like walked out, and I was just like, 'Oh man, I'm so f**king in love with you. Done.

"It wasn't like a thing, and also it was like so obvious. It just is.

"We're both from LA and we really love LA. We're both kind of like, scumbags. We both felt like trolls as kids. We're so similar but different. She's a writer; she's brilliant."
