A former Mormon missionary says she ditched the 'sexually repressed' church and kicked off a career a porn instead.

Addie Andrews, 30, grew up in a small town in the Pacific Northwest and was told by her parents that she must choose a religion to follow. Aged 17, she picked The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Speaking to the New York Post, she said: "The church took me in, was so welcoming, and wanted to do well by me."

Addie took on the lifestyle expected from her new religion, which includes no sex before marriage. Addie had sex just once before she joined the church and stayed celibate until she was 26.

She said: "The problem is not just that premarital sex is denied but that they make it out to be a very serious sin and shameful thing to do. The deeper I got into the religion, the farther from my own identity I got."

Addie left the church and moved to California to become an acting career.

Dedicated to her religion, she spent 18 months on a mission to help spread the word of the church across her state, which she says left her feeling like 'a nun'.

Addie told the Post: "I was very sexually repressed! You're essentially a nun, devoted to your religion for that period of time."

But she says she started to question her religion when she had to turn down being bridesmaid at her sister's wedding as the dress was too 'immodest' by Mormon standards.

Addie also started to miss singing, dancing and acting, which had all been passions of hers until she joined the church.

So, in 2017, she decided to stop attending church and a year later moved to California to try and become an actress. She found it hard and, despite having a university degree, she struggled to find work anywhere.

Eventually, she decided to give exotic dancing a shot and from there 'a lot of porn agents' reached out to her and asked her if she'd be interested in a career in the adult entertainment industry - from there her career has taken off.

Now, Addie boasts over 70,000 followers on Instagram and was recently titled Penthouse magazine's Pet of the Month.

Addie says, although initially a little wary, her family have now accepted her career choice. She says her brother even told her: "I will definitely never watch your porn, but you seem happier than ever, so I support your decision."
