Reports suggest MGM have now drawn up an official shortlist of actors to play James Bond.
Ever since Daniel Craig publicly declared his
hatred desire to step down from the role, the rumour mill has been in overdrive about just who is going to take on being 007.
Taylor Swift hedged her bets early and decided Tom Hiddleston, 35, was nailed on for one of the biggest movie roles in Hollywood.
But it is thought MGM producers are still convinced Idris Elba has the right talent and box office appeal to play the coveted role, even though the actor himself said he's probably too old to play Bond at 43.
A source at MGM told The Sun: "To get anyone to take over from Daniel will be a tough job.
"There will be a lot of trepidation about a new Bond, but Idris' talent and proven appeal gives executives a lot of heart.
"Idris may be a little older than the other candidates but he looks like he is still in his 30s."
Other top targets on the list include Michael Fassbender, 39, Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam, 36, Aidan Turner, 33, and Fast and Furious star Luke Evans, 37.
Nobody has admitted they've been approached about the role yet and it is thought EON Productions and franchise boss Barbara Broccoli is still meeting actors about taking on 007.
She's said to be a fan of Billy Elliot actor Jamie Bell, 30, and Happy Valley's James Norton, 31.
MGM executives will of course put forward their shortlist but Broccoli has the final say on who will play James Bond.
Out of all that lot, then, who do you reckon it's going to be? My money is still on Hiddleston but would absolutely not be upset to see Elba or Hunnam take it on. Having said that, a return for Pierce Brosnan would be great banter.
