Ruby Rose has revealed why she quit Batwoman after just one year: because the outfit she was wearing didn't agree with her.

When the 35-year-old Australian actor left the TV Series after one season, fans were left confused as to why she'd gone and now she's finally given some context behind her departure - latex.

Warner Bros. Television

As well as speaking out about the show being 'taxing' and having a back injury which was a contributing factor, Rose has now explained her how allergy to latex forced her to go.

Appearing on KIIS The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Rose - who confirmed she consumed a lot of allergy relief medication Benadryl on set, said: "I did find out that I was allergic to latex.

"Unfortunately, my mask is latex. I was getting worse and worse, because as you get more contact with it, I guess you get more reactions."

Eventually, Rose started to look and feel bad which was the final straw for her. She added: "I took off the [mask] at the end, and my face was just hives. My throat was all messed up.

"It was like it was out of a scary movie."

This isn't the first time she's referenced the costume either. Previously, Ruby spoke about it during a press interview for the show, saying: "Ask anyone that's ever played a superhero or villain or anything with that kind of costume, [the costumes are] not fun."

Rose, who played the role of Batwoman (or Kate Kane), took to Instagram in May 2020 to announce the news.

She wrote: "Thank you everyone for coming on this journey. If I mentioned everyone it would be 1000 tags.. but Thank you to the cast, crew, producers and studio. It wasn't an easy decision but those who know, know..

"I didn't want to not acknowledge everyone involved and how big this was for TV and for our community. I have stayed silent because that's my choice for now but know I adore you all. I'm sure next season will be amazing also. Xxx *hangs up cowl and cape."

The second season of Batwoman aired on 17 January 2021 and the third instalment is set to be released on 13 October 2021.
