Ryan Reynolds Makes Brilliant Gesture To Cinema Facing Fine For Showing 'Deadpool' With Beer

What a guy.

There are two things that should have become common knowledge to us since the release of Deadpool. The first being that the film is fucking great, and the second being that its star, Ryan Reynolds, is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood.

The superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, has overtaken The Matrix Reloaded as the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time.

It's no wonder that a sequel is already in the works considering Deadpool brought in $12.7million on its opening night alone and had the largest preview opening for an R-rated movie since The Hangover II back in 2011.

However, one cinema in Utah is facing a fine of up to $25,000 for showing the film and serving alcohol at the same time.

There is a law in the state prohibiting the sale of booze while there is nudity or sexual acts being displayed in the film.

Despite the theatre, Brewvies, claiming the law is unconstitutional, it looks as though they'll be hit with the fine regardless.

"The main character (male) in the film is shown numerous times engaging in acts or simulated acts of sexual intercourse with the female counterpart during a holiday themed sex-montage," Agent Bradley Bullock wrote in his report, according to FOX13.

Reynolds caught wind of the news and took to Twitter to sarcastically share an article about the fine.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help the cinema in their fight against the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. And it wasn't long before it received a $5,000 donation from a gentleman named Ryan Reynolds.

The page's description reads:

For years Brewveis has dealt with the oppressive Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The DABC has threatened to fine us or suspend or revoke our liquor license, just for showing R-rated films like Deadpool, Hangover 2, Magic Mike XXL and Ted 2. We are fighting for the State of Utah to respect our First Amendment freedom of speech.

The money that we are raising will go towards a legal defense fund to be used for legal fees seeking an injunction against the enforcement of a statute that violates our freedom of speech. If there are any funds left over from our legal battle, we will use the funds for a public celebration of our freedom of speech!

This is a fight that is important to all individuals 21 and over who cherish their freedom of speech. We are ready to fight back. We are greatful for any support you can provide.

The last time Brewvies in Salt Lake City faced the same charge after screening The Hangover Part III, they were fined $1,627.
