A Nine Trey Bloods gang member who was convicted of kidnapping fellow member Tekashi 6ix9ine has been sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Anthony 'Harv' Ellison, 33, has been incarcerated at a federal lockup in Manhattan after Tekashi - real name Daniel Hernandez - infamously testified against him.

The hearing, which took place yesterday (4 November), lasted for two hours whereby the judge, Paul A. Engelmayer, repeatedly cited the July 2018 kidnapping of Tekashi 6ix9ine, as well as Ellison's slashing of another man's face that left him permanently disfigured.

District Judge Engelmayer called Ellison 'cruel and vicious' for 'slicing open a man's face' even though the man was not involved in a shooting Ellison was trying to avenge.

Ellison was convicted following a three-week jury trial in October 2019 prior to the sentencing hearing.

Acting US Attorney Audrey Strauss said: "Anthony Ellison was a high-ranking member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a violent gang that wreaked havoc across New York City, and he was convicted of racketeering, kidnapping, and a violent assault with a dangerous weapon.

"Now, thanks to the outstanding work of our partners at the NYPD, HSI, and ATF, he will spend the next 24 years in federal prison."

In addition to the prison term, Ellison of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to five years of supervised release.

During the hearing, Ellison told the judge: "I'm not an angel but I'm not a monster. I do have faults. I am human."

At Ellison's trial last year, Tekashi testified about his involvement with the gang. He described the kidnapping, explaining how Ellison and another man forced him into a stolen car at gunpoint. He said the men drove him around, stopping sometimes to beat and taunt him as he begged for his life.

He told the court how he was taken to his home in Brooklyn where a bag of jewellery was stolen before he was driven a few more blocks and released.

The 24-year-old gave evidence as part of a plea deal to try and avoid a minimum 47-year sentence.

He was since taunted for snitching on his fellow gang member with Rapper and Power star Curtis Jackon - better known as 50 Cent - sharing a meme in which a court sketch of Hernandaz has the words: "Judge: Is that all? 6ix9ine: ... and Tommy Killed Angela Valdez." on his Instagram account.

While Snoop shared a meme showing a photo of Hernandez with text over the top which read, in part: "Snoop ain't a real dog."
