Ed Sheeran surprised patrons at a Nashville karaoke bar by handing out drinks and singing a Backstreet Boys smash hit, in what sounds like an ideal night out.

The 32-year-old crooner sang along with fans at a Christmas themed bar called Santa's, which he used to visit when he lived in Nashville a decade ago.

The Grammy-winner sang a very rough rendition of ‘I Want It That Way’, the chart-topping 1999 song which continues to raise the roof whenever people hear it.

Sheeran’s surprise homecoming came about as he was able to make a pit-stop after performing at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on Saturday night (22 July) as part of his Mathematics Tour which is visiting cities across the world.

“Let’s f***ing get lit!” Sheeran yelled as he jumped up and down while singing along to the Backstreet Boys’ song.

Ed Sheeran visited a bar he used to go to back in 2013.

The video of the performance was shared by Sheeran on his Instagram page and it also includes a clip of the dad-of-two reminiscing about his time in Nashville.

“When I lived in Nashville in 2013, I used to go to this karaoke caravan called Santa’s. It only does $1 (78p) PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon beer) and it does karaoke, and it’s the best,” he said.

The ‘Shivers’ singer then showed off a brand spanking new custom T-shirt design created by the establishment’s owners in his honour. It features drawing of the singer, who clearly loves the garment.

“[The owner]’s made a T-shirt with my face on it and we’re going there tonight,” he added.

The singer handed out drinks and T-shirts and put on some fun sunglasses.

Sheeran can be seen serving the people at the bar by handing out bottles of beer as well as tapping the top of one customer’s bottle before giving it to her.

He also shared some T-shirts before singing a karaoke version of his song ’Thinking Out Loud’ for a bride and groom with the help of the crowd.

“Will you make some noise for the happy couple!” Sheeran shouted, as the audience followed his orders.

In the caption of the post, the hit-maker wrote: “Celebrating breaking the attendance record at Nissan stadium in Nashville tonight at Santas pub [sic]. When I lived here this was the spot and it still is.

“Karaoke caravan and cheap beer, what’s not to love x.”
