Gwyneth Paltrow could U-turn on retiring from acting on one condition

Gwyneth Paltrow could U-turn on retiring from acting on one condition

The star retired from her Hollywood acting career after Avengers: Endgame

Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that there is one person who could get her back into the acting world after she retired to concentrate on her other business ventures.

After a stellar career on the silver screen, Paltrow stepped away from acting in order to concentrate on her wellness brand Goop - the one that makes products that smell like her private parts - and her other businesses.

Despite winning an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Primetime Emmy award during her career on the screen, the 51-year-old decided to wrap things in the film industry up after her appearance in 2019's Avengers: Endgame and has no plans to dip her toe back in.

That is, unless one of her past co-stars and friends comes a-calling, asking her to drop everything and star in another movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Paltrow revealed that her long-time friend Robert Downey Jr. might just have the power to coax her out of her self-imposed Hollywood retirement.

The pair starred together in the Avengers movies, as well as in three Iron Man flicks.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has benefitted amply from their relationship, and - apparently - he’s the only one who might be able to get her back on camera.

Paltrow said: "Well, it would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job.

"But, I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back.

“You know, to some degree.”

Well, it’s a long shot, but if anyone can do it.

Of course, she’s joking here, but she’s not joking about being busy with her other work at the moment.

Goop has come on leaps and bounds in recent times, and Paltrow is fully focused on making a success of the brand, rather than earning the easy money she could probably pick up on the big screen.

She explained: "It's taken a lot of hard work and perseverance, but you know, I do it with so much love, and so I'm glad to see that we've been able to build year over year. It's thrilling."

Looking further to the future, Paltrow revealed that she might even one day decide to leave Goop behind, sell the business and disappear altogether.

Talking to Bustle magazine, she said: “I might be like, ‘f*** this.’

“I might just disappear, and no one will ever see me again.”

Paltrow has spoken before about how she takes ‘no’ pleasure from her celebrity life, and added: “I will literally disappear from public life.

“No one will ever see me again.”

Presumably, that comes with the unspoken caveat of ‘unless Robert Downey Jr. asks me to come back’.

As for Goop, she has ‘no idea who would buy it’ at the moment, so it seems as if she’ll continue to head that up, at least.

Despite getting no satisfaction from her public life, she admits that stuff like ‘creating, collaborating, being struck with new ideas, innovating, thinking ahead, strategy, vision’ does keep her getting out of bed in the morning.
