The star of the hit movie Logan has opened up about the environment that she experienced in Hollywood when she was just 11 years old.
Dafne Keen was cast in Logan opposite Hugh Jackman, thrusting her into the spotlight at a young age.
Speaking to the Inside of You podcast Keen, who is now 21, recalled how she has never had much interest in things like alcohol, attributing this to what she witnessed at some Hollywood parties for the movie.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been drunk enough to even have a hangover. I’m such a control freak with that,” she told podcast host Michael Rosenbaum.

“Because also I think as a child actor I witnessed so much of that as a child that I just had no interest… I was getting offered coke at wrap parties.
"Like, tiny. Like 11, 12, 13. So I saw what that was, so I was like, ‘I don’t really have any interest in that’… I was saying no, fortunately.”
Keen got her breakout role playing the mutant Laura, or 'X-23' Logan, which was released in 2017.

The movie takes a darker turn, showing an old and dying Wolverine caring for a frail Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Strewart, with Xaiver's worsening dementia making him inadvertently very dangerous as he is unable to control his psychic powers anymore.
In the midst of this bleak scenario, Wolverine happens upon Laura, who it transpires is a young mutant who possesses similar powers to Wolverine as she has been created using his DNA, and resolves to help get her and her mutant friends across the border as they are pursued by mutant hunters.
Keen spoke more about how her fame has impacted her, including avoiding drugs and alcohol.
“I don’t really need it," she said. "I’ll go out and stay out ‘til 6, but sober. Just for the vibes, just ‘cause I like music and I like dancing and I like people.
She added: "I did used to lie as a teenager so I wouldn’t get peer pressured. I’d be like, ‘Nah, I’m good. I don’t wanna drink. I already took something.’ Dead sober. Like, the goodest goody-two-shoes ever.”

Keen went to explain that Jackman had helped to look after her on set, saying: “[Hugh Jackman] gave me a lot of really positive reinforcement and a lot of really good advice. And he was always so lovely."
She added: “He’s the best number one you could ever wish for. And he’s the best on-screen dad. He genuinely felt like a sort of parental figure.
"He made sure that no one was abusing my hours, that I was having fun on set, that I wasn’t aware of any tensions that would’ve been happening behind the scenes. He was so incredibly protective and amazing.”
After her role in Logan, Keen would then be cast as Lyra Belacqua, the protagonist of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, when the books were adapted into a TV series.
Since then, she has reprised her role from Logan in 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as roles in Star Wars: The Acolyte and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
