It is often said that beauty is subjective, but from a purely scientific perspective, it seems as if Emma Stone can now claim to be the world's most beautiful woman.

The envious title was decided using something known as the 'Greek golden ratio', which assesses a celebrity's face by drawing a line which divides it into the proportions 1:1.618.

This then creates the ideal dimensions for a face, judging by the distance from the top of the nose to the bottom of the lips, having a more voluptuous bottom lip and also assessing the size of your forehead and shape of your eyebrows.

While Jodie Comer was previously thought to have claimed the title, a new study conducted by Dr Julian De Silva, who runs the Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, has judged that Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone now has the best face card in the business.

Dr De Silva explained: "Emma Stone was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection. She achieved top marks for her eyebrows (94.2 percent) and high marks in all the other categories.

"She has a near-perfect jawline with a score of 97 percent and beautifully proportioned lips at 95.6 per cent. She came top because of her consistent excellence across all the Golden Ratio elements."

There's clearly something in the water in Hollywood, as fellow actors Zendaya and Freida Pinto completed the top three, with the likes of Margot Robbie and Jenna Ortega also earning spots in the top 10.

Dr De Silva also clarified exactly how the scientific process works, in case you were thinking of testing it on yourself.

He said: "These brand new computer mapping techniques allow us to solve some of the mysteries of what it is that makes someone physically beautiful, and the technology is useful when planning patients' surgery."

While Jonathan Bailey recently made history by being crowned the world's sexiest man, it's another rugged movie star who claims the men's title according to the new study, with prospective 007 Aaron Taylor-Johnson claiming that crown.

On the men's side, it's Lucien Laviscount and Paul Mescal who complete the final three. Far from Normal People after all, eh Paul?

Dr De Silva concluded: "'Aaron was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection.

"His 93.04 per cent score would easily make him the most handsome James Bond in the history if he does land the role as expected."

Remember, lads, if your wife or girlfriend asks you if you've seen who the most beautiful woman in the world is, it's a trick question. The answer is always her.
