Nikki Glaser, the host of this year’s Golden Globes awards, drew gasps from the crowd after making a controversial joke about P Diddy.

Glaser was brought in this year following the controversy surrounding Jo Koy last year, who was booed on stage and brought groans with several of his jokes.

If organisers hoped that Glaser would come entirely controversy-free, they would be wrong - the comedian has already made a P Diddy joke that's drawn gasps from the crowd and criticism online.

The comedian said: “Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune, oh my God, I woke up for all of your scenes. You were so good.

“And Challengers, girl? Oh my God! That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card, I mean seriously.”

She went on to say: “I’m sorry, I’m upset too. The afterparty is not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on.

“I know a Stanley Tucci freak off doesn’t have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”

P Diddy was arrested on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, and is accused of hosting ‘freak-off parties’.

During a raid on his house, more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil were discovered.

One fan tweeted about the joke, saying: “??? i feel like this is not the right kind of joke to make.”

Another fan said: "diddy jokes are never funny."

A third said: "Who in that writing room thought it was a good idea to include that Diddy joke? That was literally just disgusting."

Despite this, Glaser was widely praised for her monologue.

One fan tweeted regarding her hosting: "nikki glaser kind of absolutely annihilating her monologue. incredible presence, perfect pacing, knows how to roast people and be tongue-in-cheek without being obnoxious and offensive."

Another said: "Nikki Glaser devoured and left no crumbs with that opening monologue."

This was not the only moment where Glaser pushed the boundaries in her speeches, as she included a joke poking fun at Joker 2.

In her speech she said: "Where’s the Joker 2 table? Oh right, they’re not here.”

One fan tweeted in response calling it 'disrespectful', with another saying 'We didn’t laugh'.

Despite that, most loved the tongue-in-cheek joke, with one saying: "Joker 2 joke was the best the show has had since Amy [Poehler] and Tina [Fey].”

Glaser presented this year's awards, where films such as Anora, Conclave, Emilia Perez, and A Real Pain vied for the first major landmark win in the Oscars race.
