Jake Paul shows off the aftermath of his whirlwind fight with Anthony Joshua last year, which saw his jaw break.

The 28-year-old faced off with the former world heavyweight champ in a bout that was streamed live on Netflix for all to see on Friday (19 December).

Paul had only previously lost one fight in his short boxing career up until that point, which was against Tommy Fury, but it was almost certain that AJ would rein champion supreme.

While the US influencer was able to hold his own for six rounds, he eventually caught one too many hooks from his Olympic gold medallist opponent, one of which went on to break his jaw in two places.

Eddie Hearn went on to comment that he believes the injury would lead him to never fight again.

However, while he’s not gone on to speak about fighting any more pros, he has been candid about his healing journey.

For example, he spoke to his brother, Logan Paul, on their podcast, IMPAULSIVE, explaining how he had to drink food through a straw after his jaw was wired shut.

The influencer-turned-boxer has since revealed he had to undergo another surgery on his jaw, but this time, it looks completely bionic.

Initially, Paul drove himself to the hospital on 20 December to check out his jaw after the bout, leading to a first surgery that included plates and screws, as well as some teeth taken out.

However, those precuations seem to have been short-lived.

The boxer took to Instagram where he showed a series of images, including a large metal plate across the length of his jaw, stating: “Had to get another jaw surgery. The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn't rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt.”

He went on to say: “Just got out of my emergency jaw surgery, having my breakfast here in the hospital. Basically, I was at the Olympics and the plates and screws that they put in my mouth all started to come loose. One of the little screws, I had to spit it out. They were super worried about getting it infected, so we had to pull them out right away, because essentially it was just this open wound sitting there in my mouth, where there’s food and bacteria.

“So, it turns out kids that if you don’t listen to your doctors when they tell you not to do anything for two months, and you do a bunch of things, the screws and plates will come out of your bone. Don’t be a dumb a** like me.”

He also showed what appeared to be an AI generated video of his jaw being detachable and full of purple lights and mechanics.

Paul showed himself being wheeled around the hospital by fiancée, Olympic speed skating champion Jutta Leerdam, who recently won gold at the Winter Olympics in Italy.

The 29-year-old has been seen in the stands, watching the Dutch star in action as Leerdam, 27, took home both gold and silver medals in Milan-Cortina, breaking the Olympic record to win in the 1,000m.

Paul burst into tears as he watched her win, which was caught on camera.

On social media, he posted about the win numerous times, with one showing him carrying Leerdam on his shoulders to their private jet as he captioned the clip: “From now on call me Jutta Leerdam’s fiancé.”
