Before he died James Van Der Beek gave his blessing to his ex-wife Heather McComb tying the knot with her new husband.
The Dawson's Creek star passed away earlier this year at the age of 48 following a colorectal cancer diagnosis, with his wife Kimberly releasing a statement saying it had been 'peaceful' and he'd gone through his final days with 'courage, faith, and grace'.
There were a great many tributes to the actor's memory, including from his ex-wife McComb, who he'd been married to between 2003 and 2010, as she said she had 'immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades'.
While their marriage had ended years ago they'd remained 'good friends' and Heather had a lot of praise for him in the tribute she paid to his memory.

Having recently tied the knot with new husband Scott Michael Campbell, Heather revealed that before he died Van Der Beek had given his blessing to their marriage as she opened up about what they'd said.

Speaking to US Weekly, she said she would share one detail from their final conversation where he gave his blessing to the couple.
She said: "I will share one thing because I think it's beautiful.
"James and Kimberly both knew that Scott and I were getting married and they both were so full of love and support and excitement. Just to have his blessing on this marriage was something that I will always hold on my heart.
"I think that when I look back, that is really what I hold in my heart - is just how he loved was a beautiful thing. How he loved everybody in his life, especially Kimberly and those beautiful kids.
"I know that James would want me to celebrate our love, just like he celebrated the love that he had for Kimberly, which was so beautiful."

Heather went on to say she thought James and Kimberly were 'true soulmates', praising their relationship and saying her admiration for the actor's widow was 'unparalleled'.
Van Der Beek and McComb's divorce had been finalised in 2010, though their amicable separation had been announced a year earlier.
They had continued to work together following their divorce, as McComb appeared as a guest star in a 2015 episode of the show CSI: Cyber which Van Der Beek acted in.
After their divorce was finalised he'd then married Kimberly in August 2010, together they had six children.
Days before he died the couple had renewed their wedding vows.
