Jane Fallon has revealed she's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The best-selling author, who is in a long-term relationship with Ricky Gervais, shared the news on social media, announcing she had no symptoms ahead of her diagnosis.
“So… I thought I should post something as I’ve had a few people notice I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately," she posted on her Instagram story earlier today (12 March).
“About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.

“I had a routine mammogram a week before Christmas. I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy & sent me for further tests & eventually a biopsy.
“Since then I’ve had more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely. It’s been a lot, I’m not going to lie.”

The 65-year-old added: “But, my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now.
“I’m getting incredible care and all will be fine but I’m not engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws tbh. Dr Eric on duty. Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is.”
Jane started her career on television, before pivoting to writing, going on to release her first best-selling book Getting Rid of Matthew back in 2007. Since then she has released a further 14 books, including her best-selling titles Just Got Real, Queen Bee and Worst. Idea. Ever.
She and The Office creator Ricky have been together since 1982 after meeting while both studying at University College London. They moved in together two years later and currently live in Hampstead, London with their pets.
Despite the longevity of their relationship, the pair decided not to get married.

Since sharing the news, Jane's page has been inundated with messages of support, with one follower commenting: “Sending positive energy and thoughts your way.”
Another added: “So sorry to hear this but thankfully caught early. The success rates are so good these days and you are in the best hands. X.”
A third wrote: “Jane I am so sorry to hear this, please take care, cuddle Pickle a lot more and make Ricky eat more sprouts lol, hope all goes well with surgery and recovery, hugs.”
