Jennifer Lawrence had to tell Robert De Niro to leave her rehearsal dinner

Jennifer Lawrence had to tell Robert De Niro to leave her rehearsal dinner

She told the Oscar-winner to go home

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed she sent Robert De Niro home from her wedding rehearsal.

The Hunger Games star got hitched to Cooke Maroney back in 2019 and the pair now share son Cy, who was born in 2022.

As plenty of married folks will tell you, planning the perfect big day can be pretty stressful - alongside making sure everything goes smoothly, newly-weds want to know their loved ones are having a good time.

And I imagine things become even more stressful when you count the likes of Adele, Kris Jenner and Robert De Niro among your close friends, as was the case for Lawrence.

The 33-year-old admitted that she spent much of her wedding worrying about her guests amid concerns that everyone was freezing cold.

Speaking to E! News at the Golden Globes, she shared: "It's so stressful. You're not having fun. You're just like, 'Is that person having fun?'

"I'll never forget - I was freaking out about the guests being cold and all of my friends were lying they're like, ‘Nobody's cold, nobody's cold, everything's fine, everything's fine.'"

However, her mum Karen took the more direct approach telling the Oscar-winner: "My mom was like, ‘It's freezing out there, your grandmother almost died." You can always rely on your mum to be brutally honest, can’t you?

Lawrence went on to say that during her rehearsal dinner she was so concerned about her friend De Niro that she suggested he go home, as he didn’t look like he was having fun.

She recalled: "I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn't know anybody and he's kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn't what he wants to be doing. I don't want him here’.

"So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home' and he was nice - he like talked to my parents and was polite - but I was like, 'Go.'

"That just genuinely made me feel better."

The star, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in No Hard Feelings, has previously admitted that she didn’t think De Niro would actually turn up.

In an interview with Vogue last year, Lawrence said: “When he came, I said, ‘Bob, you really don’t have to be here. You can go home.

“And he was like, ‘Thank you so much,’ and left.” At least he's honest, eh?
