Jessica Simpson admits she’s into ‘younger men’ following recent divorce

Jessica Simpson has made a candid admission about her current dating life, following her divorce from her NFL star husband.

The singer and actor had been married to former American football player Eric Johnson for a decade, tying the knot in 2014 at a ranch in California after dating for four years. However, Simpson has since confirmed that she and Johnson went their separate ways at the start of the year.

The 45-year-old has since decided to step back into the world of acting post-divorce, appearing in legal drama series All’s Fair alongside a star-studded cast which includes Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close and none other than lawyer-in-waiting Kim Kardashian.

Simpson's role sees her paired with 76-year-old Rick Springfield as a love interest, prompting the singer to joke that she gets 'down and dirty' with the singer, who is 21 years her senior.

"That was interesting. I have never made out with a man that much older than me," Simpson admitted to PEOPLE. "It wasn’t terrible."

However, older men who are reading this and wondering if they'd ever have a shot with Simpson should prepare to be disappointed, as the 'I Wanna Love You Forever' singer is currently interested in dating men who are younger than her.

"I think I'm into younger men at the moment," she told the outlet.

"When you're newly separated. I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older women, I'm discovering... It's fun."

Simpson had previously confirmed the news of her separation from Johnson to PEOPLE, telling the outlet the pair had been 'living separately' while navigating a 'painful situation in our marriage'.

"Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them," the statement continued.

"We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."

The couple were married for 10 years and had three children together - Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 12, Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.

It's not clear exactly when the couple decided to end their marriage, although Johnson was seen without a wedding ring as early as November 2024.

Prior to her relationship with Johnson, Simpson had been married to singer Nick Lachey for four years, between 2002 and 2006. Meanwhile, Johnson also had a previous marriage to stylist Keri Johnson before meeting Simpson.
