Jim Carrey, one of the most likeable actors in Hollywood, has revealed the one co-star who, he says, absolutely hated him.

Although it would be pretty much impossible to dislike the Dumb and Dumber star, 63, apparently someone does, or did.

A few years ago, he claimed Tommy Lee Jones was not a fan of his work, and wasn't afraid of telling him to his face either.

The pair worked together on 1995 movie Batman Forever, with Carrey taking on the role of the Riddler.

Now, just before he was about to shoot the biggest scene of the film with Jones, who played Harvey Dent/Two Face, the pair supposedly bumped into each other at a restaurant.

During an appearance on the Norm Macdonald Live show in 2017, Carrey said the maitre de pointed out the No Country For Old Men actor, now 78, having dinner in the corner.

"I went over, and I said, ‘Hey Tommy, how are you doing?’ and the blood just drained from his face, and he got up shaking - he must have been in mid-kill-me fantasy or something like that," he said.

"And he went to hug me, and he said, ‘I hate you. I really don’t like you'. And I said, 'What’s the problem?' and pulled up a chair, which probably wasn’t smart.

"And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery'."

After initially not understanding what the issue was, Carrey reckoned: "I was the star and that was the problem. He's a phenomenal actor, though. I still love him."

Although Jones has never commented on his alleged dislike of Carrey, he called the film and its director Joel Schumacher 'excellent' in an interview with ScreenSlam.

With the original movie featuring Val Kilmer as Batman, Jones said: "If there's a lot of technology at work, the actor's job is to work with it.

"Either use it or be used by it, whatever is called for. So, some movies are more technological than others and your job is to do the right thing so far as you can understand it and so far as you can identify it."

While Jones certainly rated the film, it seems a newer audience on Rotten Tomatoes were not as impressed, scoring it a 33 percent.

"This felt a bit too goofy for me. I enjoyed a lot of the production design, bright colors, and campy feel at times. But overall it went too far," one person said.

Another added: "It just feels like a two-hour Looney Tunes cartoon."

LADbible Group has contacted Tommy Lee Jones' representatives for comment.
