JK Rowling addresses claims she invited Epstein to Harry Potter play 10 years after conviction

The author has been accused in viral tweets of personally inviting Jeffrey Epstein to the Broadway opening of The Cursed Child

JK Rowling has spoken out after leaks in the newest release of Epstein files seemed to show her inviting the infamous paedophile to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The newest batch of Epstein files released by the House Senate Democrats has led to numerous scandals, with Donald Trump getting into a feud with Trevor Noah and threatening to sue him as well as several new celebrities being implicated.

One of these celebrities to be newly implicated in files was JK Rowling due to an email sent to Epstein inviting him to the Harry Potter stage show.

Most shockingly, however, this invite was sent in 2018, ten years on from Epstein’s guilty plea for soliciting a prostitute under the age of 18.

His arrest for charges of sex trafficking over the course of multiple years would occur just one year later in 2019.

Rowling has denied having any contact with Epstein, however, tweeting to address the claims.

She quoted a tweet making fun of her for ‘sending invitations to epstein 10 years after he was convicted’, penning: “This is beyond silly.

“Neither I, nor anybody on my team, ever met, communicated with or invited Jeffrey Epstein to anything.”

The Epstein files themselves do actually vindicate Rowling on this, as they show an email trail which does not implicate her.

The ‘proof’ being posted by fans is a private invitation to the play on April 22, 2018, stating that the person in question was invited by ‘Sonia Freedman, Colin Callender, and JK Rowling’ to the play’s Broadway premiere.

This trio, however, are simply the producers of the play, and the invitation is a template that will have been sent out to anyone who was provided tickets from publicists or producers for the opening.

But email chains link Epstein’s invite to publicist Peggy Siegal, who was referred to by the New York Times as ‘Hollywood’s secret weapon’.

Siegal emailed Colin Callender saying: “Colin...I need a hugh favor [sic]. I need two seats just for the Hogwarth [sic] dining room dinner.

“It for a very important friend of mine that does a lot for me. He just wants to come see the spectacle. If the dinner is seated, he can sit with me.

“I wil [sic] take care of him. I will not ask you for anything else.”

This was passed on by Callender to his assistant who then arranged the tickets with other workers at Siegal’s company.

Ultimately Epstein was actually unable to attend after a mix-up only gave him one ticket and saw him stopped at the door, leading to Siegal sending a furious email in which she referred to the infamous late paedophile as ‘a captain of international finance and a close personal friend of mine’.

Siegal is also shown in other email exchanges in the files offering to 'bring a baby back' for him from Africa, stating it would be 'so Madonna'.

LADbible has attempted to contact Siegal for comment.
