Look, whether we want to admit it or not, we’ve all had our own experience of some kind of awkward encounter. You know the kind I mean, like that weird passing comment you made to someone years ago that you still lie awake thinking about now.
Maybe you awkwardly said something to that girl from your GCSE science class or bumped into your favourite TikTok star in a shop and stumbled over your words.
And it seems even celebrities have the same kind of interactions with other stars.
Like Will Young, who recalled his ‘awful’ dressing room encounter with Julia Roberts.

The ‘Anything is Possible’ singer appeared on The One Show last night (24 April) to talk about his comeback song ‘Falling Deep’ and upcoming UK tour.
Hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas asked the Pop Idol star what kind of stories he’ll tell audiences during the shows and he recalled one embarrassing tale that still has him ‘sweating’ over now.
Young spoke about the time he came across Roberts backstage at the BAFTAs in Los Angeles, where he was performing back in 2007.
The singer recalled: “I was singing at the LA BAFTAs. She was in the dressing room and I get a bit tongue-tied and I was just looking at her and thinking, ‘Oh God, that’s Julia Roberts’, and all I had in my head was the Pretty Woman theme tune.”
He explained how the Pretty Woman actor recognised him from the popular music show at the time, getting it confused with the US version.
“Then she said, ‘You’re the guy from American Idol’ and I said, ‘No, Pop Idol.’ Then I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if it was called Pup Idol and everyone brought their puppies?’”
Yeah, to be fair, that would be an embarrassing little joke to try and tell.
Even re-telling this story on the TV show had him getting all embarrassed as he continued: “She just looked at me. I know - it’s really odd! Her assistant just moved her away. I’m actually sweating telling this story. I started sweating and the make-up artist was like, ‘God, you’re sweating quite a lot’.
“And I said, ‘Yeah, I know, I’m fine. It’s just so hot’. It was just awful. But I think people need to hear these stories.”
The One Show viewers loved watching Young on the show, calling him ‘fabulous’ and writing ‘bless him’ as he recalled the embarrassing tale.
