Kim Woodburn has died aged 83 after a short illness, her family said.

The star was well known for her iconic appearances on the likes of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother.

She first rose to fame co-presenting the Channel 4 series How Clean is Your House? which ran from 2003 to 2009, earning her the title of the 'Queen of Clean'. With viewers picked up overseas, she ended up starring in a Canadian version titled Kim's Rude Awakenings.

Woodburn also regularly made appearances on Loose Women and This Morning.

Her death comes after the star cancelled work commitments and stopped making videos for her Instagram page 'due to a health problem'.

"No more videos for now, my loves, I need to get better!" she wrote in March this year.

A representative for the TV personality has now said in a statement: "It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday (16 June) following a short illness.

"Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate.

"We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career. We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve.

"We will not be releasing any further details."

Reacting to her death, users wrote on Twitter: "There will never be anyone like Kim," as they called her 'an absolute icon of reality TV'.

"RIP Kim Woodburn. Absolutely heartbroken. A woman who provided the nation with so much entertainment and took no crap from anyone her entire life. Thank you for the joy and the laughs. Forever our Queen of Clean. Forever our Kim," another wrote.

One said: "I'm absolutely gutted that Kim Woodburn has died! There is no other public figure that had such an impact on my lexicon as that woman did. She was a total one-off. I'll raise a glass to her tonight. RIP dorlin."

A second wrote: "I’m literally shaking. Our beautiful Kim Woodburn. Fly high my dorlin, her impact on Twitter and British pop culture especially should be studied. A British legend."

Many agreed: "We've lost a true gay icon today," as plenty shared their favourite reality TV moments of Woodburn, with another writing: "All I'm saying is God better prepare himself. Because heaven's got one heck of a storm coming. Kim Woodburn, we love you always x."
