Kevin Bacon's wife was unfazed when she found out she was related to him

Kyra Sedgwick wasn't fazed when she found out that her husband was actually related to her.

The 58-year-old actress was featured on an episode of PBS TV series Finding Your Roots, where they use written records and DNA testing to find out more about the individual's family and ancestry.

Sedgwick is best known for her roles in The Closer, winning an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role, and also for her guest role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine among other acting credits.

She has also been married to Hollywood legend and EE spokesperson Kevin Bacon for almost 36 years.

Apart from being the face of the UK mobile network company, Bacon is best known for his roles in 80s classic Footloose, Apollo 13 and JFK in addition to others.

The couple have two children together after meeting on the set of the PBS version of Lanford Wilson's play Lemon Sky.

PBS seem to have a major role in their lives, bringing them together and then dropping this bombshell on them.

The couple have been married since 1988.

In a 2013 episode of Finding Your Roots, it was revealed to Sedgwick that husband Bacon was her cousin.

Though he was her ninth cousin once removed, it would be expected for any normal person to freak out a bit.

However, she wasn't really fazed by the revelation.

She was asked about the episode in 2017, to which she said: "I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon — I mean, most white people are related, ultimately."

Sedgwick continued: "I wasn't surprised, honestly,

"Frankly, I figured that was part the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised."

When it was revealed to the two by host Henry Louis Gates Jr, the Harvard professor of African-American history, that they were related, her reaction was a bit more out there, as she exclaimed: "See. I knew it! I knew it!

“As long as we’re not first cousins, it’s fine.”

Sedgwick was unbothered when she found out about their relationship.

In a moment that seemed inevitable from Sedgwick's point of view, she was not moved at all by the news.

It was also revealed that both families had a major part in American history, having a part to play in the Declaration of Independence and the battle to abolish slavery.

It is also revealed that Bacon is Brad Pitt's 13th cousin, twice removed, and that he is Barack Obama's 12th cousin, three times removed.

He jokingly responded: "No kidding. I knew I wasn’t getting enough respect."
