Well, we’re four episodes in and with four Traitors so far, you can’t help but wonder how many we’ll get through in this series of The Celebrity Traitors.
We started off with just Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant who then picked out James Acaster to recruit as a Traitor. And after the actor’s unsurprising (but perhaps mistake of a) banishment, they decided to seduce Hannah Fry.
But while there were some Faithfuls hoping to become a Traitor, that certainly can’t be said for the comedian and the professor.
Acaster in particular made it clear he didn’t want to be selected as a Traitor and Jama has now addressed the controversial decision to pick them out.

The Love Island host reminded viewers yesterday (10 October) that we ‘see more on TV’.

With it seeming a little like Acaster and Fry have been struggling with their roles as Traitors – having to lie and murder their fellow Faithful – Jama took to X to address it.
The 32-year-old shared screenshots from The Celebrity Traitors as she was shown saying in the turret: “I can’t be the only one out here killing people.
“Where is Richard when I need him? Rich, the spirit of Rich.”
As many viewers have been scratching their heads over just why they’d pick out Faithfuls to recruit who didn’t want to be Traitors, she wrote: “All I will say after last night’s episode is I had NO IDEA they didn’t want to be traitors when I agreed to recruit them, remember you see more on the TV than I did in that castle”
This came as towards the end of Friday’s episode, the pair admitted they were finding Traitor life tough – pretty different to Jama who seems to be thriving in her ‘villain era’.
“Maya I hope your back is ok after single handedly carrying the Traitors since Richard left,” one user joked on social media.

What should Maya do now?
Looking like the strongest Traitor right now – at least in the sense that she seems to be the most comfortable – Jama has a few options for her gameplay.
Faithfuls appear to be trusting her, opening up about their suspicions of Fry. And it does look like the professor could be back in the mix for Thursday’s Round Table after a lucky escape saw Julie Hesmondhalgh banished.
If Fry was to go in episode five, Jama could continue with that same logic, have a Traitor banished, recruit another. Rinse and Repeat. That’s why grant’s banishment might have been a mistake for the Faithful.
Had they kept in a Traitor they were so sure of, then they could have used him to watch his behaviours with others and lessen the amount of unknown Traitors.
So, it’s not surprising that a lot of viewers reckon Jama should throw at least Fry under the bus. That way, she can keep in the dark and let the Faithfuls think they’re having wins while actually just strengthening the Traitors.
“Wouldn’t be opposed to you throwing them under the bus and starting afresh,” one wrote.
“I see a bus coming - I hope you threw them under it,” another said.
Plus, some think it would simply make for more interesting telly: “No shade, I would throw James A. and Hannah under the bus (for the mere fact that neither are pulling their weight and literally giving … nothing) and start anew. It’s so … meh watching you strategise alone and clean up the other Traitors’ mistakes and fumbles.”
The Celebrity Traitors returns Thursday 15 October, on BBC One at 8pm.
