Matthew Perry fans are praising the star's 'most underrated role’.

This comes following the actor’s death on Saturday 28 October at the age of 54.

Perry was reportedly found in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.

He was best known for playing Chandler Bing in the beloved sitcom Friends.

NBC (which aired the show) confirmed this tragic news in a statement: “We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry.

“He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations."

However, the actor had a whole host of other film and TV credits to his name.

Perry appeared in films such as Fools Rush In and The Ron Clark Story as well as various shows from Charles in Charge in the 80s to The West Wing.

But his performance in a 2006 comedy-drama is being hailed as his ‘most underrated’ by fans.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip featured Perry as executive producer Matt Albie alongside Bradley Whitford as Danny Tripp as the pair work on a live sketch comedy show (yeah, like Saturday Night Live).

Created by Aaron Sorkin, it had 22 episodes and also featured Sarah Paulson, Kevin Eubanks, Felicity Huffman and Rob Reiner.

Fans took to X to share clips from the show, writing: “Matthew Perry's underrated role was in Studio 60 (2006-2007) where Sarah Paulson played his love interest. RIP Matthew Perry.”

Another put: “RIP Matthew Perry. The entire world slept on his best performance in Studio 60 but I will always remember how much I loved him in this show.”

He played executive producer and writer Matt Albie.

Other fans also praised: “Even though he'll be synonymous with Chandler and Friends, a real gem of a show with Matthew Perry was Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.

“A great cast and razor-sharp writing from Aaron Sorkin - it's a shame it didn't quite find the audience it needed to go beyond its one season.”

And one noted: “Social media will be flooded with Friends clips of Matthew Perry (and rightly so) but look out for clips from Studio 60 on the Sunset Trip.”

Another even put: “I loved this show and his partnership with Bradley Whitford in it was superb. When I think of him I think of this show and his performances in The West Wing.”

Perry’s cause of death is yet to be determined, though there was no apparent foul play.
