Perez Hilton’s first words from hospital bed after disturbing TikTok livestream

Perez Hilton's reported first words from hospital have been revealed, with the celebrity gossip blogger admitting that he 'needs help' following an alarming self-harm incident.
Hilton, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, was hospitalised on Tuesday (4 August) after a distressing TikTok livestream showed him covered in blood and appearing to hurt himself.
Fans who witnessed the alarming video were quick to call emergency services, who later confirmed that the 48-year-old had been hospitalised in Miami.

A new update on the influencer's condition appeared to confirm that he was able to communicate, with MailOnline reporting that his first words to family members were 'I need help'.
"He's really suffering. He's a man in a lot of pain. I think right now he's focused on the physical, but it's all tied together. No one deserves the torment he's going through," the insider, who is said to have known the family for a number of years, said.
"He was able to articulate himself [to his mother in hospital] but I don't think he's quite self-aware enough yet [to understand exactly what happened].
"He's still in a dark place as I understand it. Just very very sad."
The source also confirmed that Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, was the one who met the police when they arrived at his Miami residence.
They also added that family members are struggling to understand what caused the incident, saying that Hilton didn't appear to have been 'particularly depressed'.
"There wasn't like a big event. We think it's the stress from the move. He can get very overwhelmed sometimes," the source said. "Everyone knows that. But never to this extent."
The insider's claims come just hours after Hilton's family issued a new statement regarding his health, confirming that he was able to communicate.
"This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful," the statement read.
"We have also been able to confirm that Perez is able to communicate, which has given our family hope."
Hilton's children removed from home when 'severe mental health crisis' became apparent
It was previously reported that Hilton's three children - Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8 - as well as his niece and sister had been at home with the gossip blogger that night but 'fled' just minutes before the livestream.
"When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma," read an update from the family.
The statement added that family members are focused on making sure the children are able to 'heal from what they experienced' and urged paparazzi not to station themselves outside of the family home.

Perez Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira, is a celebrity gossip columnist, whose pen name is a pun on socialite Paris Hilton.
He launched his website PerezHilton.com in 2004, originally using free WiFi in coffee shops because he couldn’t afford to install an internet connection in his home.
But he became infamous in the Noughties for his controversial coverage of the era’s biggest stars.
He had high-profile friendships with the likes of Lady Gaga, Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan, but other celebs such as Mila Kunis called out what she described as his ‘mean’ coverage.
Hilton appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015. He also fronted ITV show Perez Hilton Superfan in 2011, with appearances from Katy Perry, Kelly Rowland and Enrique Iglesias.

In March 2026, Hilton was hospitalised with sepsis for three weeks from a perforated ulcer and was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
He said that following the experience, he would ‘start taking the kids to church every week’.
