Pete Davidson called out for 'weird' comments on watching porn now he's a father

The comedian returned to stand-up as a first-time dad over the weekend, as he spoke about his daughter's influence on his life

In December, Pete Davidson and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, welcomed their first child together, Scottie Rose.

And the comedian has now started to use his experience of first-time fatherhood in his material as he returns to the stage.

But it seems the SNL alum’s comments on watching porn as a dad haven’t quite gone down so well with everyone as he’s branded ‘weird’ by some.

Davidson recently did his first stand-up show in months with a one-night-only performance in Las Vegas on Saturday (11 April). And unsurprisingly, it of course featured his typical unfiltered sense of humour as he explained ‘it’s weird having a little girl’.

Keeping things candid, the 32-year-old talked about how becoming a ‘girl dad’ has influenced his habits – such as his relationship with adult content.

It’s said that during the stand-up show, Davidson said that it’s now ‘hard to watch porn… in front of her’.

And then joked: “I still did. I power through.”

It did get some laughs from the audience but it didn't totally go down so well with everyone as it went viral on social media. A whole load of users on X have called the comment ‘weird’ and criticised the joke.

“That kind of a weird thing to say. Why you thinking of your daughter,” one wrote.

As a second echoed: “Why would you associate porn with your daughter? Those are two different things.”

And a third put: “I'm confused by this part. He says ‘it's hard to watch it....in front of her’ in front of who? his wife or daughter and if his daughter, why the f**k would be he watching porn in front of his daughter or in the room with his daughter?!”

While a fourth slammed: “Men using their daughters as a springboard for finally seeing women and girls as people will forever be weird…also associating your daughters with every experience you have of women is equally weird.”

“Pete, what the f**k are you talking about, man,” a fan simply put as another suggested: “This one of those quotes you gotta keep in the mind because this sounds absurd. Just out of pocket.”

Obviously, it’s worth pointing out again that Davidson is a comedian, and this was part of a stand-up set, not a testimony sworn to the absolute straight truth. It was part of a joke, part of his career of making people laugh.

However, one user on X did write: “Even as a comedian this some weird thing to say.”

Davidson is known for blending his own experiences into his routines, having spoke about it being ‘a lot of fun’ becoming a dad.
