A co-star of the actor branded as 'weak and uninteresting' by Quentin Tarantino has hit back at the director's baffling comments.
Although Tarantino has established himself as something of a legend in Hollywood after directing huge hits like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, his recent comments have certainly not been received well.
His word is often gospel when it comes to filmography, but there are plenty of people disagreeing with his latest shout, after he was asked about his favourite 20 movies on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast.
The 62-year-old filmmaker suggested that period drama There Will Be Blood would have been higher in the list than number five if it were not for the 'weak' performance of American actor Paul Dano in comparison to Daniel Day-Lewis, which feels slightly harsh considering that performance won him an Oscar for Best Actor.

The director said: "There Will Be Blood would stand a better chance to be in number one or number two if it didn't have a big giant flaw in it, and the flaw is Paul Dano.
"Obviously, it's supposed to be a two-hander, and it's also so drastically obvious that it's not a two-hander."

He didn't stop there either, calling the 41-year-old 'weak sauce' and 'just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy... the weakest f*cking actor in SAG'.
Dano was just 23 when he shot the film, and he's gone on to appear in other well-commended films such as Prisoners, The Batmanm and 12 Years a Slave.

While some parts of the internet have come up with a bizarre 'foot fetish'-related theory as to why the director might not be so keen on him, one of the actor's co-stars from There Will Be Blood has now defended Dano.
Dillon Freasier, who played the child version of H.W. Plainview in the 2008 film, told TMZ: "The film is perfect. It's a work of art. And it's that way because everyone was perfectly cast."

It seems that people online agree with Freasier and have sided with Dano on the matter, with one Reddit user writing: "This is an insane take.
"There must be some weird behind-the-scenes grudge here. As a side note, Tarantino legitimately is the weakest actor I've ever seen, so maybe he's trying to pass that title to someone else."

Another commenter said: "This was an incredibly classless thing for Tarantino to say."
