Russell Crowe clarifies age difference between himself and girlfriend following ‘fictional’ claims
Russell Crowe has clarified the age difference between himself and his girlfriend, Britney Theriot, admitting it feels 'ungentlemanly to do this'.
His response follows ‘fictional’ claims about just how much younger than him she is.
There has been a fair bit of focus on the Gladiator actor’s relationship with Theriot, whom he has been dating for five years.
Crowe also recently addressed speculation that the pair were engaged, as he suggested he would never get married again. The 61-year-old was married to Danielle Spencer from 2003 to 2018, who he shares two sons with.

And now he’s quite happy just being someone’s boyfriend, living a ‘very, very positive life’ with Theriot. But in order to stay so positive, the star is having to dodge talks about their age difference, particularly when it was claimed she was 30 years younger than him.
“I have clarified this on many occasions, but some people prefer the fiction,” Crowe wrote on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday (8 November) in response to a post about their relationship.
“It is so ungentlemanly to do this, however, my lovely Britney is 42 years of age. I am 61.”
Clarifying that there is far less than 30 years between them, he responded to other users asking ‘why do you persist?’ as he doubled down: “Britney is 42 years old.”
This comes not long after Crowe sat down for an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, when he addressed the speculation about them being engaged: “No, we are very very good friends and we have a wonderful relationship.

“My life is so joyous and happy at the moment. Why would I ruin that with a wedding? Why would I go through [that]?”
Referring to his previous marriage, the actor continued: “So, I don’t need to go to that place. Where’s the romance? Where’s the romance in you?”
“Having that slight thing that means you got to keep respecting each other, you know, and waking up with a smile … and we do,” Crowe said.
“Something which is fascinating for me … we do everything together. We’re very happy. It’s a very very positive life. But no, I’m not going to get married again. Doing it once is cool. Great. But I don’t want to do it again.”
He reportedly first met Theriot on the set of Broken City in 2013, but the pair are not thought to have started dating until 2020.
