Francia Rasia has opened up about the surprising way she learned she was a match for Selena Gomez ahead of saving her life with a kidney transplant in 2017.
Much has been made about the pair's relationship in recent days after it emerged that Rasia wasn't in attendance as Gomez married Benny Blanco in a luxurious wedding at the end of September.
Rasia, who first struck up a friendship with the Wizards of Waverley Place alum in 2007, stepped up and offered her kidney when Gomez was struggling with serious health issues.
Naturally, after saving someone's life, you'd hope that you'd at least be invited to the after-party or be offered a slice of cake, but the 37-year-old actress has now spoken out about their relationship after Selena seemingly snubbed her.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actress said: "I know she's getting married, and I'm very happy for her. And look... she has a life, and she is already a billionaire, and I am grateful that I could do that for her.

"Look, from the beginning, the doctors told me, it's a donation. If you are going to donate a dollar to St. Jude or somewhere else, you're not going to call to say, 'Hey, what are you doing with my dollar?'"
Although the two have insisted that there has never been any beef between them, their relationship certainly appears to be complicated, and the alleged absence of a wedding invite has only added fuel to the fire.
But now fans are pointing out the shocking way Francia first found out that she was a blood type match for Selena, after studying old footage where she recalls the moment she realised she could safely donate her kidney to her fellow actress, as she faced life-threatening health issues after she was diagnosed with lupus in 2013.

Francia revealed: "There were times that I did panic. When I found out I was a match, it wasn't the way I expected. I got a phone call from Selena, a FaceTime, and she's like 'we're a match!' And I'm like 'yay, how do you know this?'"

In most circumstances, the donor would discover the news of it being a match first, with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act stating that doctors must not disclose personal information.
Selena also talked about wanting to surprise her friend with the news that she was a match before calling her to confirm that they were compatible.
Despite all claims of a feud between the two, Francia has suggested that she doesn't regret saving Selena's life, and the two even posed together for a photo in 2023, shortly after Francia suggested that she had 'no beef' with the billionaire businesswoman.
