An ex-American football player has been given an adult film deal to ponder over after an accidental live stream revealed the star engaging in NSFW activities with a woman.

Shannon Sharpe is best known for his time in the NFL as a three-time Super Bowl winning tight end, having played for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens in his 14-year long career in the sport.

Now a TV personality, the 56-year-old covers the NBA as well as the NFL for ESPN, though a recent social media blunder may have tainted his public image slightly.

Sharpe was getting hot and heavy with an unnamed woman on Wednesday (11 September) when he threw his phone to the side to engage in said activity, unknowingly going live on Instagram to his 3.2 million followers.

With the phone pointed at the ground, thousands of people tuned in to the sports analyst's live video, only to hear him having sex, live on the internet.

Following the embarrassing turn of events, Sharpe first claimed that he was hacked, posting on his story: "Beware my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning, my team and I are working vigorously to figure this out -- UNC," before later coming clean and admitting that it was him in the 18+ video.

Sharpe came clean on his Nightcap show on Wednesday night, stating: "I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons. People count on Shannon to be professional, even when I'm behind closed doors.

"Someone that is extremely, extremely private and to have one of your most intimate details - the audio - heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons," he explained.

Sharpe continued: "I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act. There are millions and billions of people of consenting age who participate in activities.

"I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity. I did not know IG live. I’ve never turned IG live on so I don’t know how it works and all of sudden my other phone started going off."

But it looks like he has been offered an opportunity to cash in on his new viral fame, as porn website 'The Porn Dude' has offered him $100,000 (£76,500) to appear in front of camera for them.

Speaking to TMZ, they said: "We would love to offer him a solid $100,000.

"If he's looking to make a career change, tell him we’ve got a jersey ready for him!"

From the sounds of his apology though, it doesn't look like he'll be accepting the offer or venturing into the adult industry, as he seems ashamed more than anything else.

In the video itself, the woman can be heard moaning and appeared to say Shannon's name, though the former athlete did not identify the woman during the livestream.

Screenshots of the Instagram Live doing the rounds online also revealed that there were over 6,500 people tuned in at one point.

Sharpe has never been married and has three children, a son and two daughters - all of whom are adults.
