Well, after weeks of waiting, the big night has been and gone.

The Super Bowl. And no, I’m not talking about the anticipation to watch the Eagles beat the Chiefs, but the build-up to see if Kendrick Lamar would include a particular track in his halftime Show.

He teased the song throughout the performance – ‘Not Like Us’, obviously. Fans had been wondering if he’d even perform it, what with Drake’s defamation lawsuit over it and all.

“I want to play their favourite song… but you know they love to sue,” Kendrick even referenced as few minutes in.

The diss track undeniably became one of the biggest songs of 2024, going absolutely viral and seeing the rapper pick up a number of Grammy awards.

And when the song finally came into his set last night (9 February), the 37-year-old self-censored probably the most damming lyric, when he calls Drake a ‘certified p**dophile’.

But viewers had the same reaction as they noticed a tiny detail in the performance.

With much of the crowd in New Orleans rapping along, it came as he reached the lyrics: “Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young / You better not ever go to cell block one / To any b**ch that talk to him and they in love / Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him.”

As clips of the performance go viral on social media, fans noticed a little something Kendrick did as he said: “Say, Drake.” And to be fair, it’s pretty funny to watch.

“Saying ‘Say Drake’ while smiling is mad work,” one user pointed out on TikTok with another echoing: “’Say Drake’ THE SMILE IS KILLING ME.”

As the rapper said it, he whipped his head to look right down the barrel of the camera, a head turn that will rival Linda from The Traitors for head turn of the year. You can watch him do it in the video below:

He completed this with quite the cheeky little grin as he took a beat or so to pause and simply just smile, hammering the moment home.

“That lil pause after ‘say Drake’ to make sure he KNEW,” another user wrote.

“THE SMILE WHILE SAYING IT!!!! He ate,” one quipped.

With plenty of people obsessing over it: “The fact that he looked at the camera and smiled is diabolical.”

Many said they were ‘cackling’ over it while some still just couldn’t get over: “Dissing Drake in the Super Bowl is WILD.”
