The Chase’s Anne Hegarty has opened up about a Baby Reindeer-style encounter after a woman moved hundreds of miles to be near her.
The Chase landed on our screens back in 2009 with the original line-up of Chasers made up of Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace.
Anne - dubbed The Governess on the hit show - joined The Chase in 2010 and has become a firm favourite with fans.
However, she recently recalled that her popularity left her having to ‘fend off’ a woman who became a bit too close to her back in 2012.

Speaking to The Sun, Anne explained: “There was a woman who I was being friendly with and got her wires crossed and the next thing I knew she packed up her home in London and moved to Manchester to live three streets away.

“I gradually fended her off and she got the message. I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but I have to be careful with people who I befriend.”
Anne said she had been ‘trying to be nice’ when she befriended the woman but then quickly realised that ‘people can overstep’, particularly if you’re not used to setting boundaries.
“It was similar to Baby Reindeer, but not as bad,” she told the outlet, before revealing that she was still ‘Facebook friends’ with the woman.
For those who haven’t seen it, Baby Reindeer centres on the story of an aspiring comedian who ends up being targeted by a female stalker.
The series was created by and starred Richard Gadd, and was adapted from his autobiographical one-man show.

In the series, Gadd plays Donny Dunn, a barman who dreams of becoming a full-time comic.
While working in the pub, Donny meets Martha Scott (played by Jessica Gunning), a former lawyer who ends up stalking him.
The show was a huge hit for Netflix, but the drama didn’t remain on screen, after internet sleuths tried to figure out who Gadd's stalker was in real life, prompting the real-life Martha to out herself.
She then decided to launch legal action against Netflix, and shared a long list of things that happened in the show that didn’t happen in real life.
