Actor who played little girl in The Ring disappeared from Hollywood completely
The actor who played the creepy little girl from The Ring had a much more successful career than you’d think – it wasn’t even the most successful film she starred in.
The Ring came out in 2002 to critical acclaim, with the little girl crawling out of a TV from a cursed VHS tape becoming one of the iconic horror images of the 21st century.
Starring Naomi Watts as Rachel Keller, The Ring follows an investigative journalist who discovers a cursed tape which tells its viewers they will die in seven days time, with a little girl crawling out a TV to make it happen.
The girl in question, called Samara Morgan in the film, was played by Daveigh Chase in the first film, and she returned in the subsequent sequels only through archival footage.

But while she starred in a series of tv series and movies, Chase eventually disappeared from Hollywood a decade ago.

There is a real argument for Chase having one of the most successful years in film in 2002; The Ring was a culture-defining horror her character became the lasting image from, with the movie raking in almost $250 million from a budget of $48 million.
In the same year, however, Chase starred in Lilo & Stitch, voicing Lilo in the animated movie.
She also continued this role in the spin-off TV show but was replaced in the subsequent animated sequel film due to scheduling issues from the successful Disney show.
Lilo & Stitch was a huge success, earning $273 million at the box office and becoming one of Disney’s highest earning franchises.
Add to that roles in Donnie Darko and a supporting part in acclaimed HBO show Big Love, and Chase has an acting resume that lots of actors would be jealous of.
Unfortunately however, personal troubles seem to have led to time away from the spotlight.
Chase disappeared from the spotlight in 2017, and had some serious legal troubles just a year later
Chase last appeared in a film or show in 2016 when she starred in American Romance, and has not updated her social media since 2017.
Her legal troubles in 2017 and 2018 however indicate a troubled time since exiting the spotlight.
The actor was arrested in February of 2017 for a ‘traffic related violation’ for driving a stolen car and was later questioned by police in connection with another serious incident.
TMZ claimed at the time that she had driven a man to hospital and then ditched the car, with the man in question dying of an overdose after being attended to by staff.
The outlet also claimed that she was a friend of the man who had been left dying outside the hospital.
In addition to this Chase was arrested in 2018 for possession of a controlled substance, before being charged later that year for possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
