Tom Holland is embracing the alcohol-free life after making the decision to quit drinking two years ago.

The Spider-Man star, 28, realised he had an issue with alcohol when doing 'Dry Jan' after a 'very, very, boozy December'.

"I decided to just give up for January, I wanted to do just dry January, and all I think about was taking a drink," he said on Jay Shetty's podcast last year.

"It was all I could think about. I was waking up thinking about it, I was checking the clock, 'When's it 12?' And it just really scared me."

In an update on his sobriety journey, Holland has called it 'an amazing thing' and acknowledges that people's attitude to drinking is shifting.

"I think it's great that, you know, people shouldn't feel pressured to get wasted and drink for any other reason than being social," the actor told Rich Roll on his podcast.

Opening up about his new alcohol free beer brand BERO, he said: "I love it, and you know, with these non-alc beers now, I love the idea, of like, my mates come over on a Tuesday night, they've all got work at five in the morning tomorrow, we can share a few beers, but there's no consequence to it, there's no attachment to it the next day."

He continued: "You get rid of it and you get to live this life enriched, you don't have to sacrifice anything.

"Because I think you're right, people think a life of sobriety is sacrificing the fun, but it really isn't.

"You just have to be bold enough to like take that step, to try it, and once you get across the line, you're like 'wow'."

On his previous alcohol struggles, he said: "When I realised that alcohol wasn't making my insecurity or bringing out my best self - it was actually doing the opposite.

"I started to feel this freedom of 'oh I can just be myself and I have nothing to be insecure about'.

"That's when I realised it started to get easier. I started to feel the benefit of not being tied to this drink.

"The more I let go and relaxed, the more I started to feel the benefits of enjoying the freedom from alcohol.

"I used to go to these parties and be like 'I can't speak to someone until I'm drunk'.

"And now that I've kicked that and I've found replacements that make me feel like I'm part of the process without sacrificing my morning.

"My next few days, has been so liberating."

BERO has already been released in the US and will be coming soon to the UK.
