Travis Barker says daughter Alabama had a premonition before 2008 plane crash

Travis Barker has recalled what his daughter Alabama told him just days before he survived a plane crash that killed the other four people.

In September 2008, Barker and his friend Adam Goldstein were the only two survivors after a private jet they were flying from South Carolina to California in crashed during take-off, killing two pilots, as well as Travis’ assistant Chris Baker and security guard Charles Still Jr.

In a new interview on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast Barker has revealed that he almost skipped the flight after feeling uneasy about it.

The Blink 182 drummer had flown to South Carolina to perform with Goldstein (who was known as DJ AM), Gavin DeGraw and Perry Farrell.

However, before he flew out, he had asked his manager if it was possible to cancel the appearance.

He recalled: “I’d said to my manager, ‘Is it too late to just pull out? I don’t really need to do this.’

“I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he’s like, ‘Bro, you can’t cancel this late.’ So, I ended up flying out there.”

At the time, Barker was dad to three young kids, including daughter Alabama, who was just two-years-old.

Speaking on the podcast, Barker said that his young daughter appeared to have a premonition about the flight and pleaded with him not to go.

“I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time,” Barker continued.

“She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling and she doesn’t usually do that. She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?'”

After flying out and performing at the show, Barker said everyone was in a rush to get home, so they booked a private plane ‘super last minute’.

"There's usually a bunch of hoops to jump through to book me a plane because even back then, without an accident, I was like, 'Who's the pilot? Has the plane been maintenanced?'" Barker said.

"I want to know everything, and none of that stuff happened. We get to the airport around 11 or midnight. It's foggy and then there's one plane in the distance that's really small."

Barker went on to say that he felt uneasy about the whole thing and even called his dad to talk things through.

He recalled: "I had an awful feeling.

"My dad was like, 'You're gonna be fine. Just get on the plane. Call me when you get home.'”

Nonetheless, Barker said the feeling didn’t go away.

"I knew something feels off," he added. "I even told my dad, 'If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.' I was saying way too much. All the signs were there."

Although they survived, Barker and Goldstein were left with critical injuries following the crash.

Barker spent around 11 weeks in hospital and refused to get on a plane until 2021, alongside his wife Kourtney Kardashian.

In 2023, he revealed that he had since flown 30 times, crediting Kardashian for supporting him.

"Wouldn't be able to tour or enjoy life again the way I do without the healing love of my amazing wife. I love you @kourtneykardash," he wrote on Threads at the time.

Tragically, Goldstein died in 2009 of an accidental overdose.

Barker told Shetty that ‘older him’ would have listened to his gut feeling and not got on the plane.

"Everything was there and I'd never felt like that before,” he said.
