Tupac’s last words before death revealed in court

Tupac’s last words before death revealed in court

A court has heard the last words Tupac Shakur said before he died

A court in Nevada has heard the final words of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur after he suffered mortal wounds from being shot on 7 September, 1996.

While the world of hip-hop has entertained plenty of conspiracies about Tupac over the years, including the suggestion that he's not really dead, someone was recently arrested for his murder and in September a grand jury decided to indict Duane 'Keffe D' Davis.

Last month the grand jury heard evidence, including testimony from rapper E.D.I Mean (real name Malcolm Greenidge) who was in the car behind Tupac during the shooting.

Shakur had been leaving a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas with Death Row Records label boss Suge Knight also in the car with him.

His car was stopped at a red light when he was shot several times, including in the chest.

Tupac was rushed to hospital but died of his wounds six days later and a court has heard from Greenidge, who was in the car behind Tupac, what the rapper's last words to him were.

Documents from the Eighth Judicial District Court Clark County Nevada show that Greenidge testified that he went up to Tupac's car after the shooting to try and see what condition he was in.

The rapper said that Tupac told him: "Get on the ground, they're going to shoot you."

He explained that this was a reference to the police officers that would arrive on the scene to respond to the shooting, with the rapper saying when he looked round he did see a gun being pointed at him by a police officer.

Greenidge said he complied with the officer's instructions to get down, and testified that Knight had been urging paramedics to check on Tupac.

An attorney for Keefe confirmed that he was planning to plead not guilty to the murder of Tupac.

Tupac's fiancée Kidada Jones previously said she remembered the final moments she spent with him in hospital.

She said she had been handed his blood-stained clothes upon arrival at the hospital and told Tupac: "Do you know I love you? Do you know we all love you?"

Jones said that Tupac nodded to her before convulsing and falling into a coma.

He was only 25 years old when he died.
