Uma Thurman warned her daughter Maya Hawke before she worked with Quentin Tarantino.
The 55-year-old has long been hailed as the director’s 'muse', having of course appeared as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction and took on the lead in Kill Bill.
So, if the Stranger Things star is going to go to anyone for advice on working with him, her legendary mum is a bit of a no brainer.
Hawke herself worked with Tarantino when she was cast as Flower Child in his 2019 hit, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. And when the 27-year-old recently appeared on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, she opened up about her time working on the film and was asked if Thurman had offered up any kind of advice.

And, well, her advice was pretty unique, not exactly along the lines of ‘always say good morning’ or ‘he likes oat milk in his coffee’ but something a little more personal.
“Keep your shoes on,” Thurman apparently told her actor daughter, in reference to Tarantino allegedly having a bit of a thing for bare feet.
“Keep your shoes on,” repeated the podcast host as the pair burst into laughter.
“Keep ‘em on, baby,” she continued. “Perfect advice. Perfect.”

Thurman has previously given a bit of a hint at the alleged foot fetish, having been asked about it during an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien last year.
“There’s this rumour that Quentin Tarantino has a foot fetish,” the host said, giving a nod to there being a number of close-ups of her own feet in the Kill Bill films.
And the actor claimed that while the director ‘staunchly denies’ these claims, O’Brien should ask him about it himself.
“He claims that every foot shot was essential to the telling of the story,” Thurman added.

Although, O’Brien said at time he doesn’t ‘see the point at all’ and joked: “I’m going to be barefoot during the interview.”
He added that it might ‘distract’ the director: “He may start sweating, and we’ll see what happens.”
Thurman isn’t the only one to have mentioned it either, with Brad Pitt even joking about it when he picked up a 2020 Screen Actors Guild Award for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
He joked that Tarantino has ‘separated more women from their shoes than the TSA’, with the popular movie also featuring its share of bare foot shots.
But, officially, it remains unknown if he definitely does have a foot fetish.
