Netflix subscribers looking to get rid of their subscription should hold fire, as the streamer may be set to get a scrapped sequel to one of Quentin Tarantino’s films.

While Tarantino has left the project behind, an iconic director has picked up the slack in David Fincher, the man behind masterpieces like Mindhunter and Se7en.

Tarantino has had several different announced plans for his tenth and final film; at one point, the Inglorious Basterds director was even set to do a Star Trek movie in addition to the one Fincher is taking over.

Instead, according to reports by Deadline, Fincher is teaming up with Brad Pitt to bring back a sequel to one of Tarantino’s modern classics on Netflix.

But no, it’s not Inglorious Basterds.

According to The Playlist instead Brad Pitt will be returning as Cliff Booth, his Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood stuntman character.

At one point, a sequel to the film was set to be tenth and last film in Tarantino’s career, he left a potential Star Trek film, and scrapped his idea for a film called The Movie Critic, which was also set to star Pitt.

Now, Tarantino says he is writing a play, but Fincher and Pitt have picked up the idea to a Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood sequel and are running with it.

In 2020, Fincher signed a four year deal with Netflix to develop and release his projects exclusively on the streamer, including his most recent movie Mank, as well as an upcoming US based reboot of Squid Game.

He extended that deal another three years through to 2027, so the Brad Pitt sequel is almost certain to release on Netflix.

Tarantino has spoken previously about his upcoming tenth film being the last of his career, saying: "Directors don’t get better as they get older."

He went on to add: “Usually the worst films in their filmography are those last four at the end ... I don’t want that bad, out-of-touch comedy in my filmography.

Fans of Tarantino, though disappointed he won't be taking it on himself, will be thrilled to hear about a possible sequel to one of his most beloved films of recent years, especially with Fincher picking it up, but may be confused as to how they will continue on from where the original left off.

Spoilers ahead for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.

The film follows Sharon Tate who, in real life, was murdered by the Manson Family, a cult led by Charles Manson.

In the film, however, history is changed, as DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth murder the Manson Family and prevent Tate’s death.

According to The Playlist, Tarantino’s script for The Movie Critic evolved into a movie following Cliff Booth after this took place.

The movie is reportedly set to have a whopping $200 million budget and is set to begin shooting this summer in California.

So, if you were thinking about getting rid of Netflix now you’ve finished Adolescence, now might be a good time to hold fire.
