Tatum had humble beginnings. He was born in Alabama to a construction worker father and flight attendant mother.
Throughout his childhood he was always sporty and developed a love of track and field events that would keep him out of trouble — he later attended Glenville State College in West Virginia on a prestigious football scholarship.
